Position to begin immediately upon Town Board approval.

The Town of New Hartford is currently seeking an individual to serve as an alternate for the Town of New Hartford Planning Board. This individual must be a Town of New Hartford Resident. This individual will fill in when another Planning Board Member is unavailable to attend a meeting.

The Planning Board is responsible for oversight of all land use planning activities within the Town of New Hartford; that includes review of all commercial, industrial, and residential development proposals from inception through construction oversight and verification.  It also includes the development of proposals for necessary modifications to the Town Master Plan, Zoning Law, and Subdivision Regulations.  The Planning Board coordinates with the Town Board and Zoning Board of Appeals as well as where it is applicable with other laws and Village Planning Boards.  The Planning Board is responsible for implementing the Town’s overall growth and development policies. 

Planning Board members are required, by Town Law, to complete a minimum of four hours of mandated training each year.
